Description:
A recounting of author Levy's travels in Afghanistan, smart and well written and apparently highly regarded. Illustrated with full page black and white photos with maps on front and rear end papers. Foxing is almost but not entirely absent from the rear of DJ. Book comes in clear archival sleeve that further ameliorates its flaws. In general this is a very nice copy of what seems to be an increasingly scarce book.

Description:
Stated 1st edition, 1st printing, straight and nice-looking, expressly not an ex-library copy or a book club ringer, etc.
Mustard-colored binding is tight and straight with some fading near bottom edge; pages are crisp and sharp, cream colored, with a small chip on the bottom edge of one endpaper -- otherwise as if unread.
Jacket is very attractive with vivid colors; some shelf wear on top edge. Basically a great copy of a great short McPhee book -- like a snack between volumes of Annals of the Former World.

Description:
The second of Garden City's popular editions of Halliburton's real life adventure memoirs. No DJ, but frankly the design for both this edition and the Bobbs-Merrill 1st Ed is pretty tacky. Tight, solid hard cover with embossing on front, deckled pages, spine lettering faded but quite readable. Occasional illustrations, photo frontis. Basically clean, a bit of soiling, a small excavation on top right edges of last few pages where a 1927 insect seems once to have been. Insect is as long gone, as the DJ.

Description:
Fossey's account of her 13-year reign as the 'gorilla lady' recruited by Anthropologist Louis Leakey to study that species of great ape, as Jane Goodall was Leakey's assignee to the chimpanzee. The book was adapted into the film 'Gorillas in the Mist', for which there is no spoiler here. Pretty lavishly illustrated with a section of full page color plates and many more full page black and white photos VG+ condition throughout, late sunning on the DJ spine, price clipped on DJ flap, solid, straight and square with clear archival sleeve. If you want a copy of this book, this is the copy you want.

Description:
This is the original 1910 edition of Green Willow with all 40 tipped-in Warwick Goble plates, mounted on heavy backing paper with printed tissue guards. Pictorial gilt front cover. All three edges stained blue to match the binding. | Here's the thing: when I got this, it was supposed to have all 40 plates. In fact, it had 39. The good news: The missing plate (Reflections, facing page 78) is included in all the reprint editions of the book, beginning with the 16 plate edition in 1912 and continuing through the 1923 edition, to the present. Hinge is cracked, spine cloth holding on for dear life, bright front cover gilt. Minor creasing on a couple of plates and/or their guards.

Description:
This edition features the full 12 color plates by Arthur Rackham issued over a series of editions beginning with the 1899, no color plates first. This edition is equivalent to the green bound Temple edition sometimes listed as published in 1937. According to the publisher's note here, the 1939 edition is the first of its kind. Binding is very presentable with a bit of foxing at the top spine edge and lower spine. Gilt is in good shape. Tight binding, no issues aside from pencilled owner's name on ffep.
