In this edition artist Sepp Frank has signed the limitation page (as in the regular edition) and (only in this edition) each of the 25 full-page intaglio prints (signed on the print, not in the plate). In addition, the actual copper intaglio plate for one of the images is built into the slipcase itself. There are 25 images in the book and this edition is limited to 25 copies because each slipcase has an original Sepp copper intaglio plate embedded in the slipcase. This is an uncomplicated set lacking only the dust jackets for volumes 5-7. All bindings VG+ or better throughout (see photos). Volume 7 spine a touch faded as always. Vol 1-4 TEG. Deckled paper edges of all 7 volumes in very nice condition. No bumps or splits to any volumes, no gutter splits inside or out. All bindings tight, Volume 1 just a touch more wear. First edition, number 427 of only 500 copies of this complete collection of seven prints commemorating milestones in aviation, each signed by the pilot. Very rare thus. All prints fresh and attractive, each in a colored metal frame. A stunning set. Each print approximately 16 x 13.5 inches visible (each print is matted, framed, and glazed in frames of various colors). Each print bears the Currier Press embossed stamp. Prints are bright and fine (very minor marginal creasing and a small closed marginal tear to the Wright print, not affecting image). Previously sold by Baumann Books and coming with their descriptive sheet. Also included is the plain brown portfolio that originally housed the prints. Please note that this set is very heavy in the metal frames.

Brown quarter leather with gilt stamping over a light gray-green cloth (matching the Barcham Green paper), purple silk book marker sewn in. All fine. Gatherings hand-sewn. All fine. No wear to the leather or boards. John Gray was said to be the model for the main character in Oscar Wilde's novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray. The trade edition of this book is scarce and I have never seen a copy of the limited edition of 12. A lovely book.
