Berkeley: Ecology Action Educational Institute, 1969. 4to, saddle-stapled wraps. Profusely illustrated. The debut issue, and only issue published under this title of the early ecological journal, which would soon rename itself as Ecology Action and cease shortly thereafter with Vol. 2, No. 2. Stephen Kimmel was the art director, and rthe journal is well-designed and illustrated, with some super photography from Jerry Takigawa, Charles Carter,Jr., and Chris Knowles. It includes poems by Mimi Akers and d. mondenshein, Three essays by Eugene Anderson entitled Notes from the Bio-Sphere, illustrated with photographs, an essay on Pelicans and their struggles with pesticides by Mimi Akers, An Open Letter to Gulf Oil by E. N. Anderson, Catherine Shaw, Clifford C. Humphrey, Otis Dudley Duncan, et al. A couple faint traces of soiling to wraps else fine. OCLC locates only a single holding under this title, and scattered holdings of Ecology Action.

np: Stuart Pound, 1969. 4to, mimeographed from typescript and side-stapled in pink illustrated covers. Illustrated within with several black and white pop art illustrations and a gorgeous sheet of some kind of color negative print tipped in. Unusual and beautiful artists' book of poetry and images by the British experimental filmmaker. "Electron City" was also an alternate title for Pounds' 1979 film Codex. OCLC locates only 2 holdings. Very good with a vertical reading crease along staples. The beautiful film print is detached, but present and laid in.

Photographically illustrated artists' book featuring a series of four captioned photographs, each separated by a sheet of glassine. The artist's second book. Very good with a light bump to lower tip and some moderate toning.

[Malakoff]: Groupe Surrealiste RUpTure, 1969. 13 x 18", offset printed on recto only. A manifesto published by the Surrealist group RUpTure in conjunction with their 1969 show at Galerie du Ranelagh. it is signed in plate by Stephane Arbutina, JeanClaude Charbonel, Pascal Colard, Claude Dupuy, Fabien Muselet, Pierre Nesterenko, Maurice Odic, Jean-Pierre Plisson, Robert Radford, Patricia Remia, and Phillippe Rillon. Folded twice, with a touch of rubbing along fold lines; very good.

np: Les Mesneux, 1976. 4to, mimeographed and side-stapled into illustrated card covers. With prospectus for Subsidia Pataphysica laid in. Second issue of the periodical emanating from the OULIPOPO division of Oulipo which was devoted to mystery, detective and crime literature, aka L'Ou.li.po.po. (Ouvroir de littérature policière potentielle) under the directorship of Jacques Baudou. This issue is devoted to Maurice Leblanc's legendary character Arsene Lupin, and includes biliographical material. Also, poetry, lecture notes, etc. Some minor creasing to wraps else fine.

Paris: Internationale Situationniste, 1964. First edition. 5 3/8 x 12 1/2" broadside, illustrated with two detourned pin-up photographs. Text in French and Spanish. Folded once, and housed in the original rubberstamped mailing envelope from the IS. Broadside which takes its title from the poem by Neruda concerning the Spanish Civil War, denouncing the relationship between the Catholic Church and Franco's regime. Aforementioned fold and some faint creasing, else fine. Scarce in the original mailing envelope. Raspaud and Voyer p. 116.

San Francisco: Ahab Press of Jackson Square West, 1963. First edition. Oblong 8vo, unpaginated, mimeographed from typescript and side-stapled into printed wrappers, with a leaf of handmade paper with a hole burned into it so the title can be read through, as issued. "Since this work will express the notion that jack green and William Gaddis are the same person, and that Job and Jehovah are two renderings of the same name and therefore represent two aspects of the same reality, and other such hopeful corrections of intellectual double vision, it should be made clear at the beginning that the common muse of the famous writers Henry Miller and Lawrence Durrell is not to be understood as one ordinary woman named 'Eve...'" From the prolog (sic). A clean, near fine example bumped at the tips, with some offsetting to title and dedication pages and inside front cover from the leaves found in the handmade paper.

np, nd. 5 x 6 1/2" engraved bookplate on Rives paper. Superb bookplate featuring an engraving based on the Lady of Elche sculpture. Fine.

[France], 1959. 3 5/16 x 4 5/16" bookplate, wood engraving. A superb entomological bookplate featuring two beetles, one of them holding a butterfly net. Faint crease to one tip else fine.

np, nd. 2 1/4 x 3 1/4" bookplate, perhaps printed by woodcut, a gorgeous image featuring two stalks of a thistle plant. The style appears to be the work of Jocelyn Mercier. Fine.

Sacramento, CA: C.S.U.S. Gallery One, 1975. Single 6 1/2 x 10" sheet of paper, folded once. Offset printed on thick coated stock. Cover reproduction of Lorel Michael's work Surreal Abuses. The announcement for this 1975 all-woman show at the California State University - Sacramento gallery, which included Hannah Wilke - unusual ephemera from an early and obscure exhibition in her career. The exhibition also included work by Mary Betts, Donna Rae Hirt, Lisa Mackie, Mary Manusos, Barbara Riley, Denise Sirota, Shari Urquhart, and Sibyl Weil. Fine.

Book design by Martien Frijns. New from the publisher. 'When I first came to Amsterdam, it was beautiful but dead. All these beautiful people, with nothing to do.' New from our friends at Artistiek Bureau comes this gorgeously designed, first publication of a lost text by Piero Heliczer, discovered in the correspondence of the Dutch poet Harry Hoogstraten. The text was writtin in the summer of 1977, when Heliczer was forced to leave his houseboat and Amsterdam and return to Paris. In this uncertain time this short, beautiful text was born, both a a farewell to Amsterdam and a brave greeting to the unknown, with passing reference to Hugo Bart Huges, Ted Joans, Allen Ginsberg, Provo, and the Kabouters. Recommended.
