London: Printed at the Ballantyne Press of rhte Vale Press and sold by Messrs Hacon and Ricketts, 1896. One of 310 copies. Wood engraved border and frontispiece by Ricketts, who was aided in the cutting of it by Charles Shannon. 53 leaves. 20 x 26.4 cms. 4to., originally in white buckram this copy has been very elegantly and expertly bound in full vellum with leather thongs and immaculate gilt titling on the upper cover, top edge gilt, others uncut, in a black cloth solander box with black and gilt spine label. An extremely clean and handsome copy.||The editor of the volume is named at ‘Charles Sturt’ which was in fact a pseudonym adopted by Ricketts. London: 37 Belsize Park Gardens, c. 1922-29. 8 Christmas Cards each with a small wood engraving by Clare Leighton pasted onto the front, 6 of which are signed by the artist in pencil. 3 are on a single card, two with short Christmas inscriptions written and signed by Leighton in ink, 5 are 4pp greetings cards with printed greetings and Leighton’s address on the inside, 2 of which have handwritten notes, one with a signature. ||The handwritten note for 1928 states “I go to America on Sat 22nd for 2 or 3 months...” - the second is inscribed “to you and Jock. We’re both down with influenza at the moment & go to the cottage for Christmas to recuperate....I hope this is worthy of joining your little army of my prints...”|

All beautifully printed and in very good condition and housed in an original envelope from Fass’s friend and dealer, Herman Cohen at The Chiswick Book Shop, New York. Extremely good.||John Strobble Fass (1890-1973) was a graphic designer and printer of fine press books who designed books for the leading American publishers of limited edition books.
