Author and title in silver on spine. The dust jacket is just good; it is soiled along some edges and faded in spots but intact with no significant loss. It is in a clear Mylar protective cover. The interior is clean and bright with no writing or discoloration detected. The book contains several black and white photographs by Gyger, Klopfenstein and others.

The black boards are in very good condition with only very slight bumping at corners and top/bottom of spine, visible wear along bottom edges, the title and author in bright gold on spine. The dust jacket is good at best: it is moderately toned over much of it and has been repaired by tape. There are small tears and about a 1-inch piece missing from the front top right corner and it is price-clipped. It is in a clear Mylar protective cover. The interior pages are in very good condition. They are clean and bright. There is no writing or foxing with the exception of a small spot on the inside of the back cover. The book contains several illustrations which are reproductions of figures produced by other artists such as Catesby and Audubon.

It is protected by a clear archival protective cover. The interior of the book is very clean and bright, there is no writing or foxing detected. The frontis and eleven full page color plates by Kalmback and Murie are in excellent condition. The book includes detailed descriptions of all birds that have been found in Alaska including the range and life history of many. The book also includes a history of Alaskan ornithology, ecological zones found in Alaska, a gazeteer of geographical locations, and an extensive bibliography.
