May 1953 issue of the A.A. Grapevine, Vol. IX Number XII. The main article in this issue is "Group Problems and Growing Pains", a Grapevine Milestone Report. (May is the birth month of AA) This is the 18th year of growth. Journal is in very good condition, one page has the marks of an old paperclip. These are fairly scarce, although many of the articles are archived on the web.

Panizzi, called "the Prince of Librarians", is the subject of the AB Yearbook for 1981. It is a biography of Panizzi going back to 1797 and also an in depth discussion of the collections of the Library.

This is the 30 year Index to the AB Bookman's Weekly, the great magazine that was the backbone of the used book/ antiquarian book trade for many years, until the Internet came along and destroyed it, along with a lot of other things. This is a softcover, pamphlet, stapled.

SULC LAWRENCE B. SULC "Larry" A former Intelligence Officer and founder of the Nathan Hale Foundation died February 1, 2017 in Beaufort, SC, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. The son of an electrician who moved his family from New Jersey to the Panama Canal Zone during the Great Depression, Larry, and his older brother David grew up exploring the jungles of Panama. He was a proud "Canal Zone Boy." In 1944, at 17, Larry joined the U.S. Navy and served in WWII in the Pacific theater. After graduating from Stanford, he was recruited by the CIA and served for 25 years in Latin America, Europe and the Far East. Edition not stated. No jacket. Clean, very good HB. Detailed study of Native First Peoples Land Claims in Alaska. Published by the now defunct Alaska Native Foundation. Excellent source of history and land claims and the bad treatment by the United States Government for the benefit of the Oil and Gas Industry. Interesting that Russia claimed Alaska by "Right of Discovery", a tactic used by many European countries in their land acquisitions, instead of Right of Conquest. With Right of Discovery, Russia claimed that no organized civilization was present, only empty land and a few savages, so that they would not have to care for the conquered people occupying the territory. They transferred the Alaska territory to the United States as this status, thus neither party had obligations to the original peoples and their government. Further American legal maneuvers made things little better for the Native population, and legal wrangling continued as Natives tried to claim their right to hunt and fish freely.
