The first volume is illustrated with reproductions of period images and the second is a folder containing one sheet with seven specimens of different types of leather pasted on, another sheet with nine specimens of cloth pasted on, a four page section with 71 reproductions of cloth rubbings from the Winterbottom designs, a specimen of brass type that would be used by a bookbinder, and an actual hand stamp of a decorative figure with a wooden handle used by a binder. Two volumes, 4to., cloth, paper spine labels, slipcase. 46, (2) pages in first volume; second is a cloth folder. Limited to 152 numbered copies and out of print before publication, this is one of the 45 copies to have the binder's tool inserted in a larger box that the regular edition; this copy is not numbered.The book is hand-printed on mould made paper. The book has 71 pages, three fold-out sections. The text is printed on white hand-made Fabriano Umbria paper in black ink with headings printed in five colors and the three fold-out sections are printed on different pastel shades of MacGregor-Vinzani specially made for this edition. The various cutouts and collages are in different colors as well. Michael Alpert printed the book, created and constructed all the various components of the book itself and its binding. The book is bound in a hand made paper wrappper and then inserted into a binding made of paper by MacGregor-Vinzani. The book is then placed in a cloth covered clamshell box with a paper spine label. The book also contains the two-cd set of a recording of Gluck's opera laid into pockets at the back of the book. Number 16 of an edition of 90 copies. Signed by Alpert on the colophon.
