Description:
Voyages To The Arctic And To The Antarctic. Hollis & Carter, London, 1966, First U.K. Edition. Hardcover Octavo, original cloth with Dustjacket, 191 pages, 4 Maps, 22 photographs. Tilman followed up his Himalayan climbing career with voyages to remote islands at high latitudes, recording climbs on their highest peaks. Reading Tilman is always entertaining, and his books have become a delightful record of sailing and climbing history. Mischief was his boat on most of these, but as Skipper on Patanela, to Heard Island, he writes of his enjoyment in camaraderie with this strong team and their success on Big Ben. Signed by five members of the Heard Island Expedition, Warwick Deacock, Colin Putt, Grahame Budd, John Crick and Phil Temple. Quite Scarce with signatures, last copy. Dustjacket, Near Fine.
