A collection of papers explaining the role and workings of the Canadian Army, beginning with an address at St. John, N.B. on 28th Nov. 1941 by Lt.-Col. Mess, Director of Recruiting, which is an appeal for Canadian men to join the Canadian Army to aid the war effort in Europe. Grey card wraps with illus. of a soldier on the front cover. Minor edgewear and soiling; pages browned; o/w a VG copy.

The Bible sayings were selected by Elsa Jane Werner and beautifully illustrated by Decie Merwin. Dust-jacket repeats the illustrations on the front and rear boards of the book. From the d.j.: "From the pages of the King James Bible these memorable passages have been chosen because of their beauty and inspiration and because of their special appeal to little children." Very pretty endpapers with a dozen birds flying about against a Red sky. An uncommon book.
