Patterned green library cloth (very ugly, depending on taste), spine number, EP pocket, thumb marks on a few pages, folding plates needlessly cello-taped at folds. Before being rebound the text block was stupidly trimmed causing loss of the captions on several of the photos. Full collation of the book by me (every page) reveals that 2 photo plates, one smaller map and the big folding map at end ARE MISSING and have been REPLACED with photocopies from originals. Overall a working copy with full text and better photo quality than that found in the subpar recent paperback reprint which has low quality photo/map reproductions (reduced in size and awkwardly lumped together). Very clean covers with no fading or marks. However, the book's text block was obviously exposed to severe moisture since the pages have slight warping (not bad), and two of the photo plate (page 136) have been stuck together (now harshly opened) resulting in a tear in one leaf and some scrappy loss at separation points --- see photo. Otherwise the book is solid and is a great reading/salvage copy. Pages have no staining or tidelines, no foxing, binding is tight, reading copy with all pages and plates. Handsigned & dated autograph of Herbert Tichy is tipped-in on the pre-title page (like an errata slip, not fully pasted down, only pasted at hinge). The original dust jacket is in nice condition with no tears and no chips. The DJ has darkening of the spine and the inside front flap corner is clipped.
