Everything fine, as new.

Binding has been professionally refurbished at some point -- flexible and easy to use, preserving the boards but not the original spine. Pages remarkably free of foxing, no tears or important defects.

Bentham was printed to the University of Cambridge from 1740 to 1758 when he was replaced by John Baskerville. Contents very clean, contemporary black morocco binding with loss to the crown and wear to the spine, corners worn to board, but still smartly bound and flexible, entirely usable, still retaining the original integral cloth bookmarks. All edges gilt but long since worn down. Previous owner's singature (1758) and few stamps of another owner. Utrecht: Joh. Enschede en Zonen for Stichting de Roos, 1947. First Edition. Near fine, a lovely copy of a beautiful book. 3/4 leather over marbelled boards. Appears unread, no signs of wear internally, free of all markings, vanishingly faint spotting to textblock edges. Binding is tight, sharp leather corners, tiny touch of wear to the gilt titling and mabelled boards. Designed by Jan van Krimpen and printed by, Joh. Enschede en Zonen for Stichting de Roos. Published in an edition of 175 copies. Signed by Jan Van Krimpen. This edition of the Psalms is one of the finest examples of both the typography of Jan van Krimpen, and his Romanee typeface (in which this book is entirely hand set), on a very lovely Barcham Green handmade paper. Wonderful book and very scarce. Century for the Century, No. 47.

Nashville: Fugitive Publishing Company, 1922. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No DJ. The first four issues of the impossible-to-find literary magazine, The Fugitive. All four issues library bound without the out wrappers in the 1920s. This copy ex-lib from a public library, with their bill of sale. With the exception of page one, the contents are very clean and fresh and free of all library markings. Page one has two small ink stamps and a very old-fashioned non-ink library stamp, which consist of a series of tiny holes in the page, spelling out the words Cossitt Library, Memphis,Tenn. Other than that, this is a wonderful relic of the Nashville Fugitives. Complete runs of this literary magazine are rarely seen.

Some volumes are library-bound (but not ex-library), some volumes are loose in a Library chemise, some are just loose. All volume are free of marking with only trivial wear -- a nice clean set of 1970-1995, plus the four issue for 1997. See photo. Rarely found in the United States -- this set ships media in the US only becuase of the weight. Great reading.

A custom full-tan cloth folding box (with charming repeating blue-rabbit endpapers) has been fabricated for the sheets. This is a lovely edition of Psalms, and a great San Francisco fine press item. I have never seen a fresh copy in sheets. While it is tempting to send this off to a fine binder, this really is a marvelous book to page through loose.

One the very best books from the Stone Wall Press. Roethke died shortly after signing the sheets for this edition. Book is completely fine, black paper slipcase has just a touch of paper loss, strong VG+.
