Description:
"The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger. 3rd UK Edition, 1957. Published in hardback by Hamish Hamilton. The book is in Very Good condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The page edge blocks are clean although the top edge is a tad dusty. The boards are clean. Internally the book is in very clean condition and has clearly been well cared for over the years. It is inscription/annotation and foxing free. The dustjacket is in Good Plus condition. It is a 4th Impression jacket as opposed to the usually see 5th Impression one. They were essentially the same design and the only difference was in the numerical number. It has a short (approx. 20mm) semi-closed tear on the side of the spine at the head. The title of the book has faded completely on the spine of the dustjacket, as often seen with this title. The dustjacket is now protected by a removable see-through sleeve. The book does have some cosmetic depredations. 1. There is a dent on the top, right… Read More

"Chess and Chessmasters" by G. Ståhlberg. Published in hardback by Bell and Sons in 1955. First UK Edition. 128pp. Betts 28-17. The book is in Good+ overall condition for its age. The book is tightly bound and stands straight. There is light foxing and age discoloration to the page edge block (heaviest of the top edge, as usual). The internal pages are all clean and unmarked apart from the very occasional small blemish or speck (for example there is a brown coloured "shadow" on both the front and rear endpaper). Inscription free apart from a bookplate and three tiny penned annotations on the front pastedown (see scan). The dustjacket is also in Good+ condition (nearly VG, in fact). It has one miniscule area of loss to the top of the spine to note (see scan). As to be expected from a book of this age, the dustjacket also has some light discolouration/tanning on it. There is also a closed, repaired tear on the front cover. The dustjacket is now protected by a removable see-through sleeve. Games are in… Read More
