In due course we hope that Geoffrey Osborn will complete the definitive work on mail sent to and from Bitish naval officers around the world in the Victorian era. His ability to identify both the sender and his location from the surviving envelope alone is legendary and the Trustees felt that this work should be preserved as it stands. The result is a Resewarch Paper which will be of interest to both naval and postal historians and, reflecting the personal nature of the study, Geoffrey's original hand-written descriptions have been retained. This publication will be launched on the occasion of the first Stuart Rossiter Memorial Lecture at the National Army Museum."

Tight text block, obviously never read. One small flaw: there is an almost inconsequential small stain on the bottom edge close to the spine; just slightly darker than the gilt edges. It does not affect the White bottom of any of the pages. An almost perfect copy from over 50 years ago. A real treasure. Wonderful illustrations by artist Eric Fraser, a well-known and respected British artist in the 1960's and 1970's.

Colour frontispiece and 8 b/w full-page illustrations plus smaller in-text b/w illus. A Religious Tract Society publication but an interesting plate on the front endpaper by the Missionary Society of "The Methodist Church". Presented to Byron Chase, a scholar in the Methodist Sunday School at Marsh Hill as an acknowledgement of diligence and fidelity in collecting funds for the Missionary Society. A.
