Wm. H. Wise & Company, 1949. Hardcover. Good. No DJ, with green cloth boards. Fading and discoloration to boards and spine. Bumped/dented corner tips. The hinges of cover in good shape, however outer spine binding has separated from inside book block, thus causing separation between the title page and the listing of color illustrations. Between pages 22 and 23 there is staining in the gutter causing adhesion between pages 24 and facing color photograph, but only in the gutter with a small tear at the bottom of page 23. Pages are free of marginalia and writing, but are fragile and do require being gently turned. Dark staining in the hinge between end papers and free end papers which have darker discoloration along very outer edges. Text block and pages have yellowed, with darker yellowing at top of text block. Overall, this cook book is in pretty good condition considering age.

Paste-downs and end papers are tanned, and have tiny pin-prick stains, possibly foxing. Very faint, very small. FFE has rough patch where old price sticker was removed. 701 pages.

Outside edge of textblock is smudged with more thumb smudges on lower corners. Very readable. 98 pages.

Small stains throughout, possibly foxing, but appears to be generic staining. Instructions and diagram breakdown for a Craftsman Model 2262 Jig Saw laid into pages. It has stains as well. Despite obvious aging, contents are relevant and useful for modern application.

Neither volume appears to have been used. Blue textured boards with gilt titling which has remained very bright. Shelf wear and bumping to bottom of spines. Lightly dented corner tips. The text block for both books has thumb marks to bottom corners and various light smudges and stains. Volume one appears to have some glue residue from binding process on bottom of the text block. Volume 1 has 622 page, volume 2 has 478pp.

It is certainly NOT the original 1898 edition with the yellow boards, but it is old. Softcover boards are green with gilt title and wreath on front board. The corners are dented, with wearing to the cloth at tips and spine ends. Discoloration to text block. Pages are quite age-toned. Tuck this into your sporran at your next Ren Faire and bring out that Scottish wit as you parade around in your kilt! 222 pages. We will be happy to provide photos upon request.
