In 1943, fighting alongside the French Resistance, Novitch was arrested and sent to the Vittel internment camp for foreign enemies of the German Reich until its liberation in September 1944. After the war Novitch devoted her life to holocaust research and historical preservation, becoming the first curator of the Holocaust Museum at kibbutz Loḥamei ha-Getta'ot in 1949.
