Burgundy cloth covered boards with faded gilt title on the spine, some light wer at spine ends but remaining neat, robust and square. No inscriptions, hinge firm, darkened end papers, smooth clean, slightly toned pages, one or two brown marks otherwise a very tidy copy.

Bound in dark blue cloth with title on white paper title-plate on the spine, some damp marks to boards but remaining neat and robust. Internally pages are smooth, clean, it appears unread by Mr. Williamson!.

Rough cut page edges are browned and spotted as are the end papers. Internally the pages are predominantly clean and clear of spots. Beautiful colour tipped in illustrations throughout by Hugh Thomspon with illustrated captioned tissue-guards, one of these tissue-guards is detached but present. Both front and back boards are detached as are the front end papers (but present), the leather is absent at top and bottom of spine piece but title remains. Text block thereafter sound, pages smooth and clean, some light brown marks here and there. Front end paper has a pencilled portrait of an unknown person, and a contemporaneous inked initial.
