Limited to 170 total copies, this is copy # VII out of 15 Roman numeral copies, SIGNED by both Kenneth Millar and Margaret Millar on the limitation page. Additionally, this copy is inscribed, (it looks like its to Wayne Warga) and SIGNED by Margaret Millar on the page facing the title page. Laid in is a reproduction of a 1931 photograph of the high school debate team of which both authors were members. The first story of each, written when they were in high school was published in 1931 in their school magazine, The Grumbler. Each is reproduced in this book. This volume is in fine condition and is protected in a plastic sleeve.

There is perimeter toning and soiling to the rear panel, and the front panel has rubbing and abrasions.

SIGNED, without inscription,by Philip MacDonald on the title page. The volume has gently bumped corners, some discoloration to the bottom edges of the front and rear panels, a light to mildly sunned spine and wrinkling to the spine ends. The interior has lightly toned pages, an irregular 1/2" ink stain in the front gutter extending to the pastedown and endpaper, and there is light off-setting to the endpapers. The classic John Ford film "Lost Patrol" starring Alan Hale, Boris Karloff, and Victor McLaglen was based on this book.

Illustrated throughout with 58 reproduced stills from the serial (now, a lost film), although some illustrations are a few pages off from the contents listings. The volume is edge worn with frayed spine ends, has a sunned nd soiled spine, and the facing panels also have some soiling and perimeter toning. The pages are gently toned, some corners are turned, and there are several instances of over-opening in the text, with the backing occasionally exposed.

Corners lightly bumped, and sporadic light soiling to covers; lettering is sharp on front panel, slightly less so on the spine. Interior is clean and binding is tight. Altogether, a very good copy.

Affixed to the front endpaper is a clipped slip of paper with the typed words, "Faithfully yours, Archibald MacLeish, The Librarian of Congress" and SIGNED by Archibald MacLeish above his typed name. The volume is bumped on the spine ends, has a bookplate of bibliophile Melba Berry Bennett on the front pastedown, and there is a rippling effect to the first 7 leaves caused by the adhesive used to paste the MacLeish signature to the front endpaper. The unclipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, is chipped on the spine ends and corners (to include a sizable 1/2" long by 3/4" deep at the base of the rear panel near the fold), and a 1/2" closed tear with crease on the top of the rear panel. There is also some staining along the rear fold.

Inscribed, SIGNED, and dated (December 1963) by Jerry MacMillan on the title page. Thje volume is heavily rubbed and lightly soiled on the facing panels, and the spine ewnds are gently curled. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a sleeve, is noticeably rubbed on the frton panel, has edge wear to include nicks and abrasions, and the spine is sunned from brown to gray. Illustrted with 34 pp of reproduced photographs and documents.

The volume is edge rubbed, with fraying on and near the spine ends, and there is light age toning to the leaves. The dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, is uniformly corner clipped (price of $1.75 is intact), soiled with some light moisture spots on and near the spine, and edge rubbed with very shallow corner and spine chips. Laid in is a 1937 advertisement to join Group Theatre which features this play in its production schedule.
