There is some foxing on inside jacket with a small area that has some chipping on the spine. Hardcover: Near Fine. New York: Coward-McCann, 1968. Red cloth with gold lettering on cover and black lettering on spine. No writing or markings in this very sturdy book, 383 pp.
This was le Carre's fifth novel. The authors novel is a Cold War espionage story set in Bonn, West Germany in the 1960's. He creates a world where the lines between right and wrong, good and evil, are horribly blurred. This is le Carré's first standalone novel, and the first not to feature recurring character George Smiley.
