Book measures 195mm x 135mm approximately.
Beautifully bound in half dark blue calf over gilt-edged light blue cloth boards in an "arts & crafts" style. Spine with one gilt ruled band and gilt-boxed compartments with author and title, date and elaborate floral design in gilt. Marbled paste-downs and end-papers. Top page edges in gilt, remainder uncut. Illustration to title page verso and further illustrations throughout.
CONDITION
Binding is very firm. Both boards exhibit a few marks with chips to edges and general wear, with some bumping to corners. Spine is mildly and evenly sun faded to a dark green. Internally the pages are generally very clean throughout with just an occasional odd spot and mild browning to end-papers. Previous owner bookplate to upper front end-paper.

Beautifully bound in three quarter maroon grained calf with gilt trim. Spine with five raised bands with title, volume and place in gilt to compartments. Marbled end-papers and paste-downs. Tissue-guarded engraving to title page verso of each volume. Top page edges in gilt. Inscription to front end-paper of each volume and previous owner plate of Lord Davies.
These volumes were presented to Lord David Davies (1880 to 1944) on his wedding day. Davies was the MP for Montgomeryshire, and fought in WWI. Hid family own the Plas Dinam Estate in Powys. He was an active supporter of The League of Nations and became First Baron of Llandinam in 1932.
