After distinguishing himself as a promising and imaginative student and finishing his education, he left Russia for Rome where he worked until 1835 as a portraitist and genre painter, though his fame as an artist came when he began doing historical painting. Book will ship well packaged and in a box.

Lovely pair of circa 1940 floral lithographs in color from the Lucas Publishing company in New York City. Lucas, importer and wholesale distributor of fine art prints and retail art dealer at his gallery, also in New York City. Sidney Z. Lucas (1896-1966) a Czech-American, who came to the U.S. in the 1920's and became very well known in the art world. The originals of these two prints are from the "Collection des Fleurs et des Fruits" (1805), which was one of the greatest French flower books of the early 19th Century by J.L. Prevost, widely renowned and very successful as a botanical painter and engraver. The pair of highly accurate and delicately detailed florals are in matching stained oak wood molded frames and under glass. Frame size 9 1/2" x 7 1/2"; site size 7 1/2" x 5 1/2". Both are in very good condition.
