Description:
The First UK printing published by The Egoist Press, London in 1919. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition with marbled wrappers over flexible boards. A printed label to the front cover. The spine is faded and very slightly chipped at the spine ends. Lower rear corner is rubbed. The cover label is complete but a little age marked. The binding is tight and the book is clean internally. The book has been signed (without dedication) to the title page by the author. The book is protected in a loose Mylar archival cover. The author's second regularly published work. One of only 1000 copies printed, of which 121 copies were distributed gratis, 707 paid for and 84 eventually remaindered (Pound & Grover, A3). Description:
The sole UK printing published by The Strawberry Press in 2007. Number 3 of only 10 special copies on Indian hand made paper and bound in full red morocco with gilt titling and decoration. A Fine unread copy in the original publisher's box. The blind-stamped box is in Very Good++ condition with just a few age related markings and some bumping to the corners. The essay was 'written by Lewis for the Corvinus press but was never issued, the sheets and plates having been destroyed by bombing in 1941. This edition has been recreated from the sole remaining copy, with a historical introduction by the printer.' Loosely inserted is the publisher's prospectus with two coloured plates.
