Description:
LA: Ultima Books, 1969.. First edition of this trade Paperback Original. A "case study of a girl's climax-to-climax search in a freaked-out nightmare of drugs and perversion!" Unlike most titles in the genre, this erotic hippie exploitation "study" has the distinction of having 5 full-page, b&w psychedelic photos of naked hippies frolicking and engaging in sexual activities. Photos of naked hippies are also featured on the front and back covers. Includes a glossary of drug and counterculture terms. Slight lean to spine that has a couple of faint creases (but binding tight), minor wear, very good plus. A rare book that we have not seen before in 35 years of specializing in this kind of material, and the first time we've seen a book of this type illustrated with creative, atmospheric photographs. Not included in the excellent guidebook "Sin-A-Rama: Sleeze Sex Paperbacks of the Sixties" and OCLC only turns up three copies.

Description:
NY: Psychedelicatessen, ca. 1967.. Seven advertisements neatly excised from various underground newspapers in NYC in the late '60s. The Psychedelicatessen was one of the very first head shops in the United States, following closely on the heels of The Psychedelic Shop in the Haight-Ashbury. Located in the East Village not far from Ed Sander's Peace Eye Bookstore, the Fillmore East, and Tompkins Square Park, they were perfectly located to be the preeminent purveyor of drug acourtements for NYC's hippies. They were the subject of constant police harassment due to their suspected involvement with the LSD trade. The Psychedelicatessen flourished for about two years from 1966-1968 until eventually the police busted them for selling huge quantities of LSD. A batch of evanescent material no longer possible to assemble---how many people preciently and meticulously cut each ad for the Psychedelicatessen that they saw? Some of the ads mention the availability of their now much-sought-after silk-screened… Read More

Located in the East Village not far from Ed Sander's Peace Eye Bookstore, the Fillmore East, and Tompkins Square Park, they were perfectly located to be the preeminent purveyor of drug accoutrements and hip publications, and a hang-out for the NYC counterculture. From the beginning their presence reverberated through the undergroud community with a photo-illustrated spread in OZ magazine, and they even made it into the mainstream media when they were written up in Time magazine.
