This is the new and enlarged second edition of a famous work by the Göttingen fencing master A. Fr. Kahn (1713- 1797). "Son traité en effet fit époque pendant longtemps servit de loi" (Gelli). Kahn was one of the most prominent instructors of the time and is important in the history of academic fencing. The illustrations of fencing positions which show excellent examples of the costumes of the period. Almost two thirds of the work are dedicated to Italy, and his descriptions are written in form of 99 letters. This itinerary today offers an authentic soure of geographical features such as monuments, museums, cultural and natural historical landmarks.
