Red cloth binding, gilt lettering to front board and spine though gilt very faded on spine; pictorial detail to front board and spine, crest to rear board. Discolouration to spine and to a lesser extent to boards, some marking and a little staining. Clear signs of shelf-wear, slightly bumped and torn corners. Some slackness to binding, a little cracking to front hinge but otherwise holding. Page edges browned, marked and scuffed. The odd mark to page surfaces but generally clean. Signs of rubbing and shelf-wear but quite clean and colour has mostly been retained in boards. Corners a little bumped and torn. Binding firm though slightly strained. Page edges very roughly cut, with a number of tears and jagged edges. A couple of pages have not been separated. Browning to page edges but quite clean. Previous owner name to front pastedown. Marking to endpapers. The odd bit of foxing throughout but otherwise page surfaces clean, with no marginalia, underlining, etc. See pictures for further information.

Boards are quite scuffed and a little marked but have retained much of their colour. Signs of rubbing and shelf-wear. Corners bumped and a little torn. Binding reasonably firm though strained in the off place and front and rear inner hinges are cracked. Page edges browned.
