Image tonality varies, some faded, some sharper. Five ring Binder. The next twenty three images are of company products, each with model number, name, order code, and often the price. The Fischer Type "R" Milliampere Radiographic Unit (code REXRA) is impressive, and should be at $665. The GP2 Portable Diathermy and Electrocoagulation apparatus is only $285. The book is still interesting for students of developmental genetics, not just for historical reasons, but because it is a rich source of information that is still valid today. Through his papers and his textbook, Hadorn won worldwide recognition as a developmental geneticist, a fact that became reflected in his election as President of the XI International Congress of Genetics in 1963 in Den Haag Netherlands" (from "Ernst Hadorn, a Pioneer of Developmental Genetics" by Rolf Nothinger, Int. J. Dev. Biol 46: 23-27, 2002). Original green cloth binding. Spine panel faded and mottled (normal for this binding? both copies we've seen have been… Read More

Description:
[ Gloucester Massachusetts and others ]: [ self published ], 1935. First Edition. Near Fine. First Edition. An archive of material related to American Inventor John Hays Hammond, Jr. The archive includes 4 letters to Janet Mabie (of Eaton Centre, New Hampshire) all from 1935. 2 comment on a Mr. Lear "who curiously enough is in the same situation that I am in regard to the Navy and foreign patents. Perhaps we may be able to work together to break up this ridiculous threat upon the part of the Navy Department." The other 2 related to Miss Mabie gathering notes for "magazine use" and Hammond setting up a meeting between Mabie and Herbert Stone of Yachting magazine. In addition to these letters, there is an 8 page carbon typescript (8 1/2 x 11 inches) about Hammond by Mabie that is quite interesting, giving insights into Hammond as a person and inventor. It is a fascinating read, and no doubt would add (if not published, which we have not been able to confirm one way or the other) to the portrait of… Read More
