Information about Islamic finance in European countries is usually provided by professional-style reports, offering practical data on implementation of standardized products. However, precise developments about material legal provisions applicable to contracts and their actual legal regime are not often detailed. In order to fill this gap, 15 researchers from across Europe contributed to this project. They describe the state of actual Islamic finance in 10 European countries, as well as applicable EU law. By combining legal analysis with statistical description of existing practices and social demand, this book provides an exhaustive account of the current potential of Islamic finance in Europe.

Drawing on insights from Islamic studies, anthropology and legal studies to examine the interactions between ideas, institutions and political actors that have enabled blasphemy laws to become the site of continuous controversy, this book furthers the readers' understanding of Pakistani politics and presents the transformation of sharia from a pluralistic religious precepts to a set of rigid laws. Using new materials, including government documents and Urdu language newspapers, the author contextualises the larger political debate within Pakistan and utilises a comparative and historical framework to weave descriptions of various events with discussions on sharia and blasphemy.

This in fact is a never read copy, a bookseller's overstock. Hardcover without DJ has excellent binding. Interiorly is a near fine book but exterior definitely shows shelf-wear from storage and dust. Pictures are attached for more insight into the condition.

There are reflective essays about freedom, old age, good life, evolution, and gossip. Another group of essays focus on culture and society: leisure and work, the art of discussion, Muslim societies, and nostalgia. A third group covers international politics: conflicts in the Holy Land, Kashmir, Afghanistan and Xinjiang, Bangladesh at 50, and Islamophobia. The fourth group of essays are about the history and politics of Pakistan, including three counterfactuals. The focus of the next group of essays is on Pakistan's economy, its performance and comparison with Malaysia and Bangladesh. The largest number of essays are in the sixth group on agriculture and rural development in Pakistan. In the final croup are seven biographical essays about the life and work of individuals who are simply inspirational.
