New York, New York, U.S.A.: Viking Press, 1958. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. A famous Western novel that was soon made into a movie starring Henry Fonda, this is "the story of a lonely marshal who was as much outside the law as the terrorists he was hired to destroy, and of the town he tried to rid of violence." The book is in VG condition, slightly age-spotted on the outer edges but with only marginal yellowing of the pages. The spine is tight and the pages are unmarked. The dust jacket is in G condition, price clipped and with heavy edge wear. There is one closed tear of 15mm at the top of the front of the dj, but the overall cover is glossy and clear. The DJ states this is the second printing of the first edition. This book will make a nice addition to a collection of Western literature! 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.

This is a biography of Frances Teresa Stuart, a cousin and mistress of King Charles II, as well as a description of Court life after the Restoration. The spine of this edition says it is the American first edition, though it is listed as being printed in England after the title page. Twelve illustration plates and an index enhance the text. There is no dust jacket. The book has dark blue boards with gilt for the title and a medallion on the front cover that echoes one of the interior pictures. The spine is worn, but can be read. There is a 1-cm. tear at the top center of the spine. An ex libris sticker is located inside the front cover. The book has never been read, as proven by un-cut pages throughout. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.
