Description:
Boston: New York Graphic Society, 1975. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/near fine. Quarto, 287pp., illustrated. A crisp, clean copy, near fine, in the publisher's grey cloth, gently sunned along the board extremities. In a near fine dust jacket, a tinge smudged. This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Fairbanks on the title page: "To Helen Powers - with so many thanks for all your kindness to Douglas Fairbanks [Jr.] Danbury, Conn. 26 August 1978." We identified a Helen Powers who at one time wrote theatre reviews for the Danbury News-Times, and we presume this must be the same person. A wonderful, image-driven volume of family history by this scion of Hollywood royalty, the son of Douglas Fairbanks and stepson of Mary Pickford. Uncommon signed.

Description:
[Alameda, California]: [not published], 1906. Very good +. One rather large photograph, measuring about 8.5" x 6.5", laid onto a mount with a 2" border. Photograph is in excellent condition, showing just a few hair-thick stretches, while the mount shows creasing and rousing at each corner, with a larger chip at the bottom right. The photograph depicts a private home in Alameda, California. Though a specific address is not provided, we can read the number 1335 on the facade, which should be able to help an able sleuth determine the precise location, and if the house still stands. Regardless, there is significant family information neatly inked to the verso, To wit: "Our home in Alameda, California. Picture taken about 1906 or 1907. Rented from Mr. MacCauley who owned both houses in the picture. James A. Milliff - father; Ellen E. Green Milliff - mother; Eugene A. Milliff - son; Picture given to me by March 17, 1962 by Mother Milliff who was 85." A nicely-sized and well-composed image of a private…

[Los Angeles]: World Fantasy Convention, 1977. First Edition. Staplebound. Fine. Octavo, unpaginated (about 20pp.), illustrated. Very good or better in the publisher's stapled wraps. Very gentle age-toning, and a razor-thin dampstain to the bottom of the spine, but a clean copy of this scarce guidebook to the 1977 World Fantasy Convention in Los Angeles, held in 1977. Most of it appears photocopies, which gives a sense of how low-fi these sorts of conventions used to be.

Description:
New York: Jonathan Cape and Harrison Smith, 1931. Sixth printing. Hardcover. Fine/very good +. Octavo, 380pp. Sixth printing, issued just five months of the first. A fine, fresh, unread copy in the publisher's crimson patterned boards with grey cloth spine. Rich black (or extremely deep blue?) topstain. Dust jacket with very shallow chipping at spine ends, and somewhat darkened on the spine panel, else really much nicer than usually found; very good or better. Though a later printing, a handsome copy of this early novel by Faulkner, with dark and unpleasant themes. Faulkner personally derided it as a "pot-boiler," but many readers and scholars consider it to be one of his best early novels.

Description:
[Athens, TN]: [Ingleside Motel?], 1956. Very good. FAULKNER, William. Signed Registration Card for a Hotel Stay in Athens, TN in 1956. Post-card sized registration card, filled out in ink. [Athens, TN]: [Ingleside Motel?], 1956. Faulkner has written his full name, along with "Oxford, Miss" as his home, and in the "Make of Car" field, he has written: "Plymouth." The card is dated in pencil, presumably by a hotel clerk, "5/9/56", with a written rate of $6.00, the total with tax amounting to $6.18. Accompanying the registration card is a picture postcard of the "New Ingleside Motel" in Athens, TN, which was "completed in 1954"; the postcard is postmarked 1958; the implication is that this is where Faulkner may have stayed. In April 1956, Faulkner had travelled to Charlottesville with his wife Estelle to be with their daughter and her husband as they were expecting the birth of a son. During the early months of 1956, Faulkner had been hospitalized a few times with the side-effects of alcoholism and from…

Description:
[Washington, DC]: [Congressional Black Caucus / National Black Leadership Roundtable], 1982. Staplebound. Near fine. Octavo, 44pp., illustrated. A near fine copy in the publisher's stapled wraps, with a faint ring stain to the front wrap. A framework action plan for dealing with issues affecting the African-American community in the early 1980s. Laid-in is a kind of introductory leaflet signed in print by Congressman Walter E. Fauntroy, who was then the Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. Though this document was clearly produced under the leadership of the CBC, and one might think that such a document would be printed by the GPO, in fact the leaflet notes that some "Black business persons" paid for the printing of 35,000 copies, and the leaflet solicits further donations to print more of them. Despite this large printing, fewer than two dozen copies are separately catalogued in OCLC.

New York: Dynamo, 1935. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Very good/good. Octavo, 62pp. A crisp, clean copy, very good, in the publisher's red cloth. Some spotting and fading to extremities. In the scarce dust jacket, good only, presenting nicely, but with a number of tape repairs to the verso. Spine darkened, with a few stains. This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED by the author of the Introduction, Edward Dahlberg, on the front free endpaper: "For Nathan Shuser with love, from Rosa & Edward Dahlberg. May 18. '35 N. Y. C." Dahlberg's first marriage was to one Winifred Donlea O'Carroll, in 1942, so we aren't sure who "Rosa" is. The inscription itself is nevertheless certainly in Dahlberg's unmistakable hand. Fearing's second book, uncommon in dust jacket, and certainly so signed by Dahlberg. This is number 448 of 1000 limited copies.
