Record Book, "It's All Over Now! {Except Memories} A Record Book." Illustrations by Wava McCullough. 1928 8 x 6 inches 60pp. Well-loved with commensurate wear, binding is holding well still. Very well organized and spirited early twentieth-century student scrapbook compiled by Winifred Eastwood at Sterling College in Sterling Kansas. Full of college ephemera including both hand-made items including invitations, letters, and menus, plus locally produced ephemera for Sterling College. We find over 150 neatly labeled photos, many calling cards, report cards, glee club and thespian programs and more. Winifred Eastwood (1908-1966) was born in Mission Creek Nebraska and if this highly personal keepsake is any indication, she dove fully into the inclusive coed college experience and kept herself busy with social activities. Large wall map of the middle section of Pennington County South Dakota dated 1907. Contours shown by hachures marks with location of creeks, rivers, railroads, cities, towns, roads, sections and names of landowners. Map attached to wooden dowels on top and bottom. As shown in the scans, there are several tears with old cello tape repairs at the top edge. These tears would be an easy conservation project but a little costly. Good Condition. Detailed map from 1907--Pennington County, South Dakota drawn by Frank Exline. No publisher noted. Railroads noted by name include the White River Valley Railroad, the Elkhorn Valley Railroad and the Northwestern Railraod. The only copy found is at the South Dakota School of Mines. Presumably rare. Extra shipping required due to size.
