The seventeen papers published in this volume were presented at the Second International Symposium on Dental Morphology held at Royal Holloway College in England in 1968. The volume is divided into three sections: Part 1: Ontogeny, Part 2: Phylogeny and Part 3: Morphology. No ownership marks and no signs of use.

Publisher’s original forest green cloth with spine lettered in gilt and with ornate gilt decorations at the top and bottom of the spine, the front and rear cloth-covered boards have blind-stamped border decorations, brown clay-coated endpapers, 8vo. This is Freeman 966, which is the second revised and augmented edition, the 23rd thousand. Darwin tackled the question of human evolution and natural selection in this work. It was a topic he avoided in previous works. There is a full-page annotation on the front free endpaper by John Macdonald, dated April 1889, that criticizes Darwin’s writings in favor of the account presented in Genesis. No other ownership marks.

Pp. xvi, 300; 38 woodcuts in text. Publisher's original forest-green cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine, and stamped in blind along the outer borders of the front and rear covers, 8vo. This is Darwin's primary work on plant fertilization. Darwin was keenly interested in the morphology of orchids and how these structures enticed insects to fertilize them. This is Freeman 814; there are only eight John Murray entries in Freeman for "Fertilisation of Orchids." Far fewer copies of this Darwin title were printed by Murray compared with his other titles. This volume is from the research collection of herpetologist Lauren E. Brown with his signature and another signature on the front wrapper.
