First Edition. London 1937. Scarce copy of the personal perspective of the Irish journalist and war correspondent Francis McCullagh (1874-1956) on the Spanish Civil War which was raging as he wrote.
In his account, he is unashamedly sympathetic to Franco and the Fascist cause and includes commentary on the Irish and Blueshirt involvement in the war.
The binding is tight. Book has age related shelf wear but boards are sound with slight soiling to rear cover and spine.
Gilt lettering on spine (a little faded). Spine extremities a little rubbed.
Text block is very good+.
Very light occasional spotting, otherwise leaves clean with no markings. Small black mark on lower edge not affecting leaves.
A very good copy. Very scarce.

Blue coloured boards clean with slight compression to spine ends. Binding tight. Leaves clean. No inscriptions or markings. DJ is complete. No tears or chips. Barely noticeable shelf wear. Not price clipped. In protective removeable sleeve.

Contemporary half calf over marbled boards. Morocco label on spine. Boards rubbed and with age related wear. Some wear at joints and scuffing but binding solid.
Internally very good and remarkably clean although naturally somewhat age toned. Little foxing or staining. Large pull out map in five sections very good. 796 pages preceeded by 4 pp of advertisement and with 2 pp of advertisement at rear.
While boards and spine do show significant wear this is a well preserved and scarce First Edition.

Book is very good. Cloth bound boards clean. Binding tight. Internally clean except for a little spotting on leaves 111 to 114. No markings except for previous old sale price in pencil on first blank.
DJ is not price clipped. A little loss at head of spine and generally a little dust dulled (see images). Now in a removable protective sleeve.
Overall, a well preserved copy.

Leaves are clean with no marking or inscriptions except for previous sale price with "First Edition 1956" on first blank. A little spotting to edges of text block, mainly top edge.
