Less than a month later in March Leonard wrote in the New York Times Book Review of asking Cain what he made of Hollywood's adaptations of his novels, to which the author pointed to his books in the library and said they were just fine regardless how the films turned out. This summation has been attributed to several other notable writers, but is generally credited as coming from Cain in response to Leonard's query, making this copy a superb association copy.
