Bishop Burnet's History of His Own Time. In Two Volumes printed for Thomas Ward, London, 1724 & 1734. First Editions. Very good books in calf. Vol II is rebacked with original spine panel laid down. Board panels have double-gilt fillet borders with decorative frame and corner pieces in blind. Six raised bands on spine, all edged in gilt; gilt lettering on red and blue morocco in the second and third sections respectively. External page edges are red-speckled. Vol I 1724 [xvi], 836; Vol II 1734 [xxii], 765 pp. Folio. 14 1/8" by 9 3/4". Board panels and edges are rubbed and scraped, corners slightly bumped. Front hinge of Vol I is cracked with FFEP starting from the lower end. Same bookplate on paste-downs of both. Minimal foxing, limited to several first and last pages. Slight age-toning, else internally clean. On the verso of the title page in Vol II is a manuscript note from Thomas Burnet: "The original manuscript of both Volumes of this History will be deposited in the Cotton Library by T.
