I am a private individual downsizing my collection of books. I have had this book for many years. It it is in fair condition but has a slightly loose spine. It has an inscription by the owner on a front page. Some of the pages have a bit of faint foxing along the top. The illustrations are in good condition, and there are 48 colour plates. See photos for dramatic illustration in the front and back covers. It is part of a series published for children.

I have had this book since I bought it in 1990, and it has been sitting on a shelf ever since and I think only read once. The edge of the pages are very slightly sun damaged. There is a small ink mark on the front edge of the closed pages - see photos. It has its blue marker ribbon in tact and upper page edges are in blue. The dust jacket shows very slight edge wear. The author won the Booker Prize for this novel.

I bought this book about 40 years ago. It has been rebound twice and in the process has lost the front illustration. It has a hard cover with marbelized surface and Moroco spine with gold title. a few of the front and end papers have eaxtensive repair, but the bulk of the book has original undamaged paper. The front cover has a book plate label and the 3rd page has the signatures of two previous owners. Refer to the photos for details of the above.
