Good; solid, clean; two short tears (1" at top of spine, 1/4" near bottom of spine) both closed with archival mending tape on the inside, near-invisible and non-darkening; one tiny red pen-mark next to "Fire Ball Mail" in the table of contents.

Tender and True; Flee as a Bird; Fretting Never Paid a Bill; about 26 are original. . Very Good: solid, unmarked, rubbed; bright cover, white pages.

Shawnee Press, 1962. . Paperback, 10" x 6 3/4", 128 pp. 89 songs with music and lyrics; most are well known, a few less common. Ships well protected in cardboard plus. Near Fine (unused former store stock): covers very lightly rubbed, unmarked, apparently unopened; sold and straight.

National Music Company, 1969. Looks like a continuation of the Stamps-Baxter series.. Paperwraps, cross-stapled, 5.5x7.5", approx 120 pp. 138 hymns with music, index. . Good: solid, straight, name on cover, paper darkening.

Very Good condition: unmarked, solid and straight.

New York: Leavitt and Allen, no date (1830's?). Hardcover 12mo, 5.2", 160 pp, highly embossed tan cloth, gilt spine titles. This should have the lyrics to @ 155 songs. They are grouped as Sentimental, National, Scotch, Irish, Sporting, and Naval Songs. The latest that I can firmly date are from the 1820's: "Hunters of Kentucky" and "Ode for the 4th of July 1827". I see none from the minstrel era beginning in 1830's. Book is improperly bound, with section p. 49-64 bound in twice, in place of section p. 17-32 (i.e. pp. 17-32 are not there). A scarce book. Worldcat mentions it, but has no record in a library. Good, apart from binder's error: solid, unmarked, worn at spine ends; one index page bound in a little askew but all there.

Approximately 560 songs: lead sheets, showing music lines, chords, and lyrics, sometimes another verse. Variety of fonts would indicate copies from sheet music? Original price stated on cover is $50. Popular music. Index at front, plus an index of "Show Tunes", by the Show (Bells are Ringing, Bye Bye Birdie, Camelot, etc.) which has about 180 titles.; and 15 blues/dixieland, 15 latin/bossa-niovas, 15 twists/jazz.
