[10], 580pp. Contemporary full morocco, raised bands, spine in six panels, each panel with central gilt seed head lozenge tool, roundels and volute corner pieces, covers with gilt double fillet border, enclosing a double panel design, the outer panel a single fillet with fleuron corner pieces and a pyramid volute tool to the middle of each side, the inner panel composed of a triple fillet with flower head corner pieces, the two panels joined by mitres, gilt roll to edges and inner edges, a.e.g., combed marbled endpapers. Slightly rubbed to extremities, corners bumped and worn. Internally frontispiece and title browned, lightly browned throughout, previous owners name to reverse of frontispiece. Title in red and black. Horneck (1641-1697) became chaplain to William III. Sixth Edition. Full Morocco. Good+. 8vo.

London: Kegan Paul, Trench and Co., 1889. xxiii, [1], 284pp, contemporary full morocco by Zaehnsdorf, raised flat bands, spine in six panels, title in gilt to second panel, author to fourth, remaining panels with two repeated butterfly tools, covers with single fillet border and the same butterfly tools repeated, inner edges gilt, t.e.g. with marbled endpapers. Small bump to head of spine, slightly rubbed to extremities, spine slightly dulled. Internally quite bright and clean. Title in red and black. Zaehnsdorf binding with their medallic gilt stamp to lower pastedown which Broomhead notes was "apparently used, along with other similar stamps, as a quality mark on the sperior bindings produced by the firm" (Broomhead, The Zaehnsdorfs, page 73). Selections from several eighteenth century periodicals including Tatler, Spectator and Connoisseur. Not in Alban Dobson's bibliography of books by Austin Dobson. First Edition. Full Morocco. Contemporary full straight grain morocco, raised bands, spine in six panels, author lettered directly to second panel with a small number of fleuron tools to foot, covers with single line border, single line to edges and inner edges, a.e.g., shell patterned marbled endpapers. Rubbed to outer joints and extremities, corners lightly bumped. Some light browning and occasional light foxing internally, but generally fairly bright and clean. Moss regarded this as "one of the most beautiful of Baskerville's editions, and by far, the most elegant one we have of this historian" (Moss, 'Manual of Classical Bibliography', Volume II, page 561). Outer joints slightly chipped with small amounts of surface loss, joints still holding well, slightly rubbed to extremities. Half-title nearly detached and now sitting slightly proud, otherwise internally quite bright and clean. With the thirty-three Cruikshank steel engravings called for, but also with what an old pencil note calls "a set of Cruikshanks's original impressions" bound in opposite each book illustration.
