There is one small piece of tape on back of one corner, and remnants of tape left in other corners, very good.A gaggle of 1940s sweater girls gather around Prof. Frederick Brenner, alias Karl Wagner (Bela Lugosi), who teaches them psychology. But this is just one of his faces, as he also plays a kindly character who runs a night time soup kitchen in the Bowery. The soup kitchen, however, is really a front for his role as a crime boss and uses the mission to recruit down-and-out people, including convicts, into his racket. When things get out of hand in a series of robberies and murders, he kills his henchmen -- who turn into zombies in the cellar of the soup kitchen.

Bela Lugosi and John Carradine were offered the title role before Boris Karloff was cast, making him a film legend. Bette Davis and Leslie Howard were early casting choices for the Clive and Clarke roles.This black-and-white mini-poster is what is called a tear ad. It is the original promotional piece which was included in the original studio campaign materials which a magazine or newspaper could use for inclusion in their publication. Vintage original 41 x 27" (103 x 67 cm.) one sheet poster, USA. James Ellison, Frances Dee, Tom Conway, Edith Barrett, James Bell, dir: Jacques Tourneur; RKO. Preserved on linen. There has been touch-up to the folds, with some extra touch-up in the "H" of "WITH" and the "O" of "ZOMBIE". There has also been some touch-up and repair to the blank white margins and at corners, and there were a few tiny bits of missing paper along the top edge, near fine.The story (based on Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre) of a nurse who ventures to the West Indies to care for the wife of a plantation manager. She falls in love with him and seeks to cure the wife of her mental paralysis by involving herself in a native voodoo ceremony. A brilliant and atmospheric tale produced by master Val Lewton, the horror suggested by the use of lighting, shadows and camera work. The images on this poster are scary and the graphics bold, reflecting the feel of this suspenseful classic.

Dennis O'Keefe, Margo, Jean Brooks, Isabel Jewell, James Bell, dir: Jacques Tourneur; RKO. The graphics are outstanding and the poster in fine condition. It was stored folded and has fold wear. This minor fold wear and fold joint wear has been reinforced on the verso along the vertical center fold with archival tape. It does not appear to have been displayed, about fine.
Though RKO seldom ventured into the horror realm, for a few years during the 1940s -- with Jacques Tourneur and Val Lewton at the helm -- they did, and of course produced some of the finest in atmospheric horror posters. This one does not disappoint.

No binding. Very Good. Fine Art Print Vintage original 22 x 28"" (55 x 71 cm.) half sheet poster, USA. Bela Lugosi, John Carradine, George Zucco, Frank Moran, Teala Loring, Tod Andrews, dir: Phil Rosen; Monogram. Paper-backed, near fine.Two scientists on an expedition in the Arctic find the frozen body of a prehistoric caveman. They bring him to their laboratory and decide they need to transplant a new brain into him so as they can control him. George Zucco started production as the caveman but became ill and was replaced by Frank Moran (on this poster). His contract stipulated he must have third billing and so that is on the poster. He appears in the final film as the frozen caveman only. The Arctic footage was taken from a 1926 short called ALASKAN ADVENTURES. As always, Lugosi played his role of Prof. Dexter with Shakespearean aplomb.

Vintage original film script, 11 x 8 1/2" (28 x 22 cm.), self-wrappers, bound into plain stiff wrappers, with typed label affixed to front wrapper, 96 pp., with many pages of revisions dated 12-3-57 on blue paper, JUST ABOUT FINE.Signed on title page by then-child actor Johnny Crawford, who played the role of Ken, with a few MS circlings and notes in his hand. Science-fiction script by Bernard Schoenfeld about a group of kids from all over the world, with the help of friendly aliens, attempting to sabotage the sending of dangerous rockets with nuclear devices into space. This is one of various major sci-fi films directed by Jack Arnold in the 1950s.

Newman, Jack Arnold: Universal. Poster is rolled and displays a fair amount of creasing at edges, particularly at the top and bottom. There is inner creasing, more evident in the title box area. Tears at edges have been repaired with brown tape and there are a few small unrepaired edge tears. The top image portion with portrait of Domergue and Reason and the alien to the right is a pasteover and the foot area of the alien has lifted slightly, very good.One of the top science fiction classics of the 1950s. The story involved aliens coming to Earth to engage scientists in a scheme to wage war and destroy the planet. George Lucas' first feature film, adapted from his own university short film. His USC short garnered so much attention that Francis Ford Coppola, under his then newly-formed American Zoetrope company, gave Lucas the chance to make a feature.
The story is of a futuristic society located beneath the earth's surface where people are named in codes and controlled by drugs, and where sex is forbidden. When two members go off the drugs and one becomes pregnant, they are in big trouble, thrown in jail and must escape.
With its bleak outlook, political commentary and moral story, Lucas started his career in a vein different from the more escapist road it has taken.
Very rare and unusual poster.
