Blue cloth cover is coming loose from the binding, front and back, but not completely detached. Peeling off the lower corner of the spine as well, as shown in photo #1. Pages are clean and tight, with no sign of notes or underlining. Owner's name on each of the first four pages. That owner was Gertrude Pritchard, apparently a schoolteacher in England early in the twentieth century. I acquired a number of her books from an estate sale in Seattle recently, and have gathered them in a catalogue entitled "Pritchard Library".

A massive book on the Celts. Covers the time from the earliest archaeological evidence up to the early post-Roman period. This consists of 41 chapters written by a variety of authors, with many illustrations (the list of illustrations runs almost six pages). Book shows almost no wear, the dust jacket just a little more. Pages are clean, tight and unmarked. This book will ship at over five pounds. As such, it is not available for international shipping without a substantial increase in cost. For domestic shipping, the excess costs are included in the list price.

Large trade paperback. Shows very little wear. Pages are clean, tight and bright. This is an unabridged reproduction of a work originally published in London in 1868. Appears to be quite rare and may be a print-on-demand product.

Little wear. Spine is square and uncreased; pages are clean, tight and unmarked. The lower quarter of the spine has a piece of tape repairing a 2-3 cm tear between the front cover and the spine. A small section of the pages has a little bend to the upper free corner. There does not appear to be any underlining or margin notes. A historical look at European society. A somewhat scarce book.

Little wear. Three sets of illustrations included, one set in color. Spine has one crease, corresponding to the location of the color plates. Pages are clean, tight and unmarked. Owners' names on half title page. Although this claims to be a history of the 14th century, in a traditionally Eurocentric way, the other six continents do not exist.

Signed by the author on the acknowledgements page. Very little wear. A novel of British spy operations in 1939. Includes maps of the areas involved, at the end of the book. A fairly scarce book and perhaps the only on the market with the author's signature. Owner's name inside front cover. The spine is square and uncreased; the pages are clean and tight.

Very little wear to the book. Pages a little tanned, but remain clean, tight and unmarked. The dust jacket is discolored on the spine and along the front lower edge. One small (6 mm) tear on the front, near the top right corner. Otherwise ok.

Edges and corners are in good shape, with intact fabric. Internally, the pages are clean and unmarked and mostly tightly bound. One small binding blemish occurs at pages 2-3, as shown in photo #4. Nothing is in danger of falling out. There is no date in the book, but the former owner, Gertrude Pritchard, very helpfully dated it when she added her name inside the front cover. Therefore, this book was published at some point prior to 1906. Other books from Gertrude can be found in my "Pritchard Library" catalogue. I have volume two as well, but there was no sign of the first volume.

There is no date in the book, but the former owner, Gertrude Pritchard, helpfully dated it when she put her name inside the from cover. This is the second of three volumes. Maroon cover shows a little wear at the lower corners and the head and tail of the spine. Gilt print on the front and spine. Two names and a few other notations on the front endpaper. Pages are clean, tight and unmarked. Six maps included, three in color. Could be a first edition, as nothing is said about any previous editions, but publishers were bad about including that kind of information back in the old days. I found four other copies on the market, with dates of 1895, 1902 and 1916, supporting the first edition assumption. The author was a History professor at Harvard. This is a very rare volume.

Book shows a little wear, primarily in the bent upper right front corner of the cover and the first few pages. The spine is square and creaseless, and the pages are clean tight and bright. This is the story of the last sailing ship fleet to make the arduous round trip between the markets of Europe and the grain producing lands of Australia (1938). This is the author's own account of that voyage. A scarce book.

No dust jacket. Maroon fabric covered boards, showing wear at the corners (boards peeking out) and at the top and bottom of the spine. The pages are generally clean and tight, with just a little bit of penciled marginalia ending after a handful of pages. Quite a bit of writing on the front endpaper, including the owner's name, with a date two years before the publication date on the title page (proving time travel IS possible, I guess). The rear endpaper has a split showing the binding fabric, which is still holding tight. The rear endpaper also has an envelope glued thereon, containing some notes taken by the original owner. A rare book.

First edition. Very little wear to the book or dust jacket. Not just a picture book, there are short essays on each of the exhibits shown within. As a museum book, there are not too many of these and likely won't be any reprints. Contains about 300 illustrations, most in full color. A rather scarce and collectible item.
