Denver, Colorado, April 20th, 1978.. Ginsberg mentions that he'll "be in S.F. in a week for a Dharmadatu Benefit, then a month retreat in Sierras, then last week reading around Bay Area---Marin College, S.F. State, Greek Theater etc. Maybe see you!" He then goes on to offer criticism of a line in the "Pig Poem" his correspondent wrote. Ginsberg says about the line: "an incredibly green meadow"---"you blew it! What kind of green, what bushes on grass, Get that particular green flash for real!" He then closes with an Auden quote and signs off "Oh love---Allen Ginsberg." A nice association as Coulter worked with Ginsberg in 1975 transcribing his notebooks from the fifties when Ginsberg was worried about his health and wanted to preserve his legacy. Fine.

n.p.:n.p., [1947].. Edited by John Hollander with Allen Ginsberg listed as "assistant editor." Prints "A Lover's Garden" and "The Proposal" by Ginsberg. A very early appearance by Ginsberg in the Columbia University literary magazine---this precedes his first book by almost a decade. Modest ring stain to front cover, else very good plus. Scarce.

n.p.:n.p., [1961].. Premier issue of this short-lived poetry mag from Allentown, Pennsylvania edited by Charles Hanna. Prints Ginsberg's "Laughing Gas Fragments" and "Real Distinguished Thing" (also about Laughing Gas). Includes Lamantia, Patchen, Neruda, et al. About fine.

Superb presentation copy inscribed by Ginsberg with a drawing to his old friend, Ed White: "Allen Ginsberg for Ed White in Janne's presence 7/15/95 Naropa Institute Boulder Colorado." Opposite the inscription Ginsberg has done a drawing of a snake eating it's tail with stars and a crescent moon surrounding the snake. Ed White was a fellow Columbia University undergraduate in the '40s where he met Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac and was an influence on their spontaneous prose style when he suggested to Kerouac: "Why don't you just sketch in the street, like a painter but with words." Later, Ed White appeared as the character Tim Gray in On the Road. An important association copy to a friend who dates from the incipient stages of the Beat Generation. Fine.

Number 14 in the Pocket Poets Series. Along with Howl, Kaddish is Ginsberg's most important book. Spine slightly sunned, else near fine.

NY: Lospecchio Press, 1986.. Hardbound, issued without a dust jacket. First edition. One of 150 numbered copies signed by Bill Morgan. Contributions by Ram Dass, Robert Duncan, Denise Levertov, Thon Gunn, Paul Bowles, and many, many others. As new.

Berkeley: Oyez, 1965.. Folio. Broadside poem. First edition. Published in an edition of 350 copies. Features a Robert LaVigne illustration of a nude Ginsberg in both black and white silhouette within a penis-shaped outline. Very faint, occasional light creasing, near fine overall.

London: Poster Dress, ca. 1968.. A paper (actually rayon and nylon) "poster dress" featuring a b&w photo of a hand in a meditative position and printing Ginsberg's poem "Uptown N.Y." Created by British designer Harry Gordon, the dress is enclosed in a plastic bag with cardboard header and a photo-illustrated advertising enclosure showing the other styles of poster dresses available. A sixties zeitgeist item issued during the brief period when paper dresses were fashionable, and one of the scarcest and most unusual Ginsberg items. A lovely example with the bag and header still sealed and not split along the seams.

SF: Arion Press, 1992.. Single 8vo sheet printed on both sides. Arion published an edition of Howl limited to only 20 copies utilizing unbound sheets from the Grabhorn-Hoyem edition of Howl. Issued to coincide with Arion's production of Kaddish. Very near fine.

n.p.:n.p., [1965].. Prints an interview with Ginsberg, and a conversation between Ginsberg and Gregory Corso. Very good.

n.p.:n.p., [1956].. A literary mag from San Francisco. Prints Ginsberg's "Two Trees in Paterson---1952," an early appearance preceding the publication of Howl. Also features two poems by Philip Whalen, an early appearance for him as well. Owner's name, some sunning to edges, smudge to back cover, very good.

London: Cape Golliard, 1968.. Oblong 16mo. Pamphlet issued in fragile tissue dust jacket. First edition of this long poem (written on LSD) describing Ginsberg's LSD trip in the countryside. Limited to 200 copies none of which were offered for sale. Fine (two tiny nicks to dj).
