A song book for children, number 3 in the music series for catholic schools, "We Sing and Praise". The songs are organized according to the liturgical year with songs both traditional (including Latin Mass responses) and some written by the Sisters who authored the book, including Sister Cecilia's telling of Saint Francis and the Wolf through story and songs. Profusely illustrated with both full-colour and two-tone illustrations. Three page alphabetical index. Melody lines only with full lyrics. The externals show only mild wear and the spine is tad faded. Faint tape stain ghosts on the free end papers. Else the interior is very clean and the binding is sound. .

First published by Harper and Row in 1954, this is the first British edition. Well illustrated with many black and white drawings by her son, Ted Sanford. Minor wear to the spine tips of the book otherwise clean with a tight binding. The unclipped dust jacket has mild wear to the head edge and some rubbing on the back panel and the spine is a tad faded. .

First published in French, this was abridged and translated into English by David Homel. Based on a real diary, this is a portrait of Mary Lou McGuire's last year on the island of Oderin in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. In 1910 the McGuire family learned the local island school would be closed and all would have to leave the island. "Seasons of the Sea is a loving look back at the world of the Newfoundland outport . . ." Library markings include spine stickers on dust jacket, name stamps and attachments on endpapers. Green (1918-1987) was an Oxford academic, biographer and children's writer, friend of C.S. Lewis and member of the Inklings. The text is dramatically illustrated by Charles Keeping who, himself, had a successful career of illustrating many British children's classics. Dark rose cloth-covered boards with gilt decoration and lettering on spine and front cover. Bit of sunning on the top of the boards, inscription by a former owner on front free endpaper; otherwise, a clean, tight, bright copy. First published in 1928, this is the 1958 reprint. A guide for the organising of a scout or cub concert and from the author's foreword: "I have endeavoured to place at the disposal of scouters (and incidentally officers of other juvenile organisations) a book of varied outlook at the same time dealing with allegory, legend, etc., down to farce. I have endeavoured to bear in mind the question of a boy's vocabulary. The book has been subdivided into various headings and many of the items are suitable for either cubs or scouts". Old inked price on the back cover, the spine is darkened and the spine tail shows moderate wear. Otherwise very clean and tight. .

Softcover. 12mo - 17.5 x 12.5 cm.; 30 - (2) pp.Stiff white card stock covers with a 1/2 cm yap on all open edges, black lettering with a photograph on the front of young Margaret and in a saddle stapled binding. Quoting from the minutes of the Womans Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Thirty-Ninth Annual Report of the Board of Managers for the Year 1919 to 1920: "Mrs. Della Cole Geggie, a former field secretary, presented each lady with a copy of a little story on tithing, written by her. The gift wes received with thanks". This is a signed copy of that "little story". The interior pages are clean and solidly bound. The covers are quite soiled with chipping of the yapped edges, a closed tear in the front cover at the tail edge and some peeling of the top layer of the cover at the lower spine. There is also staining / soiling, a faint tide mark and some spotting on the front fore edge margin. The covers are beginning to pull away from the topmost spine staple. All in all, a quite rare little item from a time when the churches were trying to fill the void left by the Great War. ; Signed by Author .

Lady Frazer (originally Elizabeth Johanna de Boys Adelsdorfer and, at one point, Lilly Grove - from first husband- 1854-1941) was the wife of James Frazer of Golden Bough fame. She was an early advocate of the aural-oral method of teaching modern languages. Front board is somewhat bowed, boards lightly soiled; binding sturdy, text pages clean. .

Full colour front cover, blank back cover. Four of the interior pages are in full colour also, the rest of the illustrations are in black and white. Previous owner's dated name (Xmas - 1917) on page 3. The artist is not credited. The front and back covers are separated at the spine fold in the bottom half. Moderate wear to the edges with some minor soiling to the front. The interior is very clean and overall, this child's book is in a remarkable condition considering the readers that it was produced for. .

Pictorial cloth over boards with a matching dust jacket. First published in 1975, this is the second Dial Press printing. The text is by Carol Carrick and the illustrations are by Donald Carrick. This is the library binding with a inner linen hinge. The pictorial cloth shows some minor 'bubbling' or lifting that I would suggest is a binding fault. Otherwise the book is very clean and sound. The dust jacket shows moderate edge wear with small chips, closed tears and associated creasing. .
