The artist John Singer Sargent’s copy with his bookplate on the front paste-down. In addition, the volume has the attractive, engraved bookplate of Keith Merrill, one-time American Consul in London, featuring boats, books, dogs, and stately homes. Light foxing throughout; slightly rubbed three-quarter green leather with raised bands and gilt decoration.
