ND [ca 1873] 2 volumes (of 3) only, h/b cloth 8vo, 117 b&w plates, 324pp + 324pp + adverts EX-LIBRARY Both volumes tightly bound with EX-LIBRARY & WITHDRAWN markings, and content otherwise mostly clean, but with scattered foxing and a few thumbprints here and there; most of the plates are remarkably clean, crisp & fresh nonetheless. Covers cloth is pretty good along lower edges but sl rubbed other edges, and Volume 2 is slightly skewed in shape Lavishly illustrated, a cartoonists mecca of inspiration 117 amazing Hogarth plates in 2 volumes [ca 1873]

Very clean & tight, “as new” but sm crease & a few superficials on cover.  “Mr Ponsonby, set in an old rooming-house under threat of demolition, is the story of one man's greed and the destruction of the human environment. The novel describes the efforts of property developer Charlie Leach to demolish the Molly Grieves' rooming house in the name of “progress”. But parallel with the destruction of the “old” Ponsonby runs the theme of the search for love by a variety of characters.”
