London: Heinemann, 1960. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Publisher's black boards with silver titles to the backstrip, pp. 208. Slight spine-slant and cracked pretty much through the block. A tidy, clean copy, nonetheless, no owner names, no foxing etc. Covers very clean and bright. The dustjacket (UK version) is not price-clipped. It is rubbed and nicked at the corners and also at the crown where there is a small tear down the joint, rear panel. Small abrasion to front panel. Far from Fine but actually not a bad copy at all, better than it may sound!

London: The Folio Society, 2012. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Fine. First thus. A Very Fine copy of this attractively-bound Folio Society edition. Cloth, blocked with a design by the artist, Patrick Leger. With an introduction by Steve Erickson. Presents as an unread copy, creakingly tight. Slipcase also in Fine, unmarked condition.

Chatto & Windus, 1952. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. First Printing. The author's well-received first novel, his second was awarded that year's Gold Dagger. Signed and inscribed at the title page, "To (name), with my sincere good wishes, Edward Grierson, Harrogate, march 1952". Uncommon thus, the book is in VG shape, fore-edge and top-edge slightly age-toned, binding square and tight. Gilt titles to black label at spine, patterned/decorated boards. The dustjacket is unclipped with minor loss at the corners, some nicks at the edges and a small tear at the crown but is not faded and looks quite bright. Off-setting to the the inside of the dustjacket fropm the patterned boards - a Good condition jacket.

Helsinki: Kustannusosakeyhtio Kirja, 1925. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Good. First edition, thus (first Finnish language edition). Illustrated wrappers, pp.237, partly uncut, untrimmed at the bottom and fore-edges. A nice clean copy, free from owner names etc, the wrappers are creased with minor tears and a pinhole to the upper cover. Uncommon.
