Some age toning to edges of text block. Inscribed "To H*** W*** sincerely John Upton Terrell". Dust jacket has light wear to head and heel of spine and bottom edges of flap folds, staining and toning to verso of jacket.

Two volume set. Full light tan cloth covered boards, well illustrated with maps (some folding), black and white plates. Both volumes have light spotting to edges of text block, bindings pushed at headband. No jackets as issued. Slipcase is good only: corners bumped, cracked seams, paper tears.

Part of the American Exploration and Travel series. Very good in VG- dust jacket. Binding slightly cocked, large bump to bottom tip of front board. Jacket has wear and small closed tears to top and bottom edges.

A new look at John C. Fremont, leader of five expeditions to the American West in the 1840's and 50's. Near fine in fine dust jacket. Very small dent to bottom edge of rear board, hence NF grade.

Some toning to edges of endpapers, head and heel of spine no longer crisp, small groove to rear board at heel of spine but no damage to cloth. Jacket faded along spine, wear along front flap fold, chipping to jacket at head and heel of spine, tips of flap folds.

Blue cloth boards, frontispiece,16 other illustrations, 4 maps. Very good in VG- dust jacket. Gilt lettering on spine no longer bright, head and heel of spine bumped. Jacket has closed tear at heel of spine, wear along bottom edge, toning along edge of rear flap.

Only 5,000 copies printed. Full cream colored cloth boards, gilt lettering, 2 folding maps, numerous other illustrations. A beautiful book. Plain white dust jacket is in good condition with tears, chipping and soiling.
