New York: P.F. Collier & Son, 1945. These three volumes in uniform bindings were published by Collier in 1945 and contain three Faith Baldwin novels and one novella. These handsome books are bound in a red leatherette cloth with the author's name blindstamped on the front panel and the die-stamped gilt titles on the spines, also decorated with blindstmped design patters and gilt borders. (Click on photo.) There is light shelf rubbing but these books are clean, bright, and collectible for Ms. Baldwin's admirers. The bindings are tight, and the text pages are clean and bright, with just a hint of age toning, and with no marks, tears, stains, or signatures from former owners. New York: Triangle Books, 1943. Originally published in 1931, Belle-Mère is Norris's dramatic tale of a young wife who must deal with a suffocating mother-in-law whose adoration of her son is lethal for the marriage. This reprint from December 1943 features a beautiful dust jacket in close to Fine condition with light edge rubbing and light rear-panel soiling. This historical romance novel is set in the time of George III and deals with three full-blooded women whose romantic trials are tied to the desparate times and places in which they live. The book is bound in a beige cloth with light blue titles on the front panel and spine. The binding is tight and secure, and the text pages are clean and bright throughout, with no tears or stains. The dust jacket has some small tears and chips. The original owner made a cellophane repair on the spine crown and bottom. I've placed the dust jacket into an archival Brodart protective sleeve. Originally published in 1906, this Glyn novel was reprinted in 1922 to promote the silent film starring Rudolph Valentino and Gloria Swanson, photographs of whom are used as illustrations. There is also a frontis photo of Valentino and Elinor Glyn. A young, penniless aristocrat, Theodora (Gloria Swanson), marries a self-made millionaire grocer to help her family recover economically. But sure enough, she meets a playboy aristocrat (Rudolph Valentino) and falls for him. Which will win? Honor and duty? Or love?
