Collation, x,252pp, errata, 27 coloured plates, 1 tinted plate, including folding frontis, and title page, pages 31/ 32 cancelled (C8), page number 73/74 repeated. Bound in later half calf, calf corners, cloth boards, raised bands, gilt tooling and lettering, full gilt edges,marble endpapers. Leather lightly rubbed, scuffed on edges, with some minor wear loss, hinge joints rubbed, but binding solid. Internally, fold on frontis has been repaired. Pages and plates in good clean condition. Generally a nice copy. . First Edition. Half Calf. Very Good. Illus. by Thomas Rowlandson. 8vo.

Thomas Tegg, 1816. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair Condition/not applicable. Illustrator: Thomas Rowlandson. The British in early Victorian India. 'A satire against the Marquis of Hastings the Governor General' ( Tooley 'English Books with Coloured Plates' pp335 ). This copy has the usual omissions ie it lacks the errata slip and the cancel leaf c8. The binding is contemporary full calf and is sound but has considerable wear. All edges rubbed, corners bumped, joints rubbed and worn and starting to crack at head and tail, boards firmly attached, inner joints cracked but secure, endpapers loosening. Small ownership inscription on the title page. Scattered foxing and browning throughout, mainly to margins, slightly less so on the better quality plate paper. The plates are not heavily affected by foxing or staining and the hand colouring is strong and unfaded. Page edges a little dusty.
