England, 1907-1915. Minor wear. Binding reinforced. . A lovely autograph and sketch book given to Dorothy Borrajo by her classmates as a souvenir when she left school in 1907. The interior cover has a pasted in list of all of Dorothy's classmates. Throughout the sketchbook there are numerous drawings and poems written by her friends from 1907 to 1915. Drawings are in pencil, ink, color pencil and watercolor. Some of the poems and drawings are quite humorous. One depicts a mother by the ocean with her two swimming daughters, glaring at a man, with the caption, "Momma disapproves of mixed bathing." 9" x 7 1/2". c1920. This handmade photography guide, called, Kodakery, contains a series of drawings, photographs, and printed photographs, used to illustrate the art of photography. Made from a photo album, it contains 23 pages of written text, 5 pages of drawings, 26 individual photographs, and 16 printed photographs. Kodakery is a term that was derived from the camera name "Kodak", and according to this guide it meant "the taking of pictures, developing and finally printing to show the picture." The guide starts off with a description of the camera itself, its various parts and 6 different types of lenses (miniscus, concave, convex, meniscus achromatic, rapid rectilnear, and anastigmatic lenses), and more specifically how light enters the camera through the different lenses. Baltimore, Maryland: Western Electric Company, 1952. William Breathitt Gray II was born on October 3, 1888 to William Breathitt Gray I (1847-1915) and Mary Jane Draper Gray (1956-1922) in Utica, MT. Originally, a rancher on his parents farm, he moved to Chicago in the early 1920s to start work at the Western Electric Company. He married Mabel Dell St. John Gray (1892-1965) on December 23, 1916. They would have two children together, William Breathitt Gray III (1917-?) and David Wallace Gray (1919-?). He moved to Florida with his wife after his retirement, and died on January 11, 1976. . William B. Gray was a Works Comptroller who worked at Western Electric Company, Point Breeze works in Maryland who retired in the summer of 1952. He was presented with a scrap album by his coworkers upon his departure. The first page of this album starts with W. B.
