Containing the three Decades of plates and descriptions relating to trilobites: Decade II, published in 1849; VII, published in 1853, and XI published in 1864. Bound together in black cloth-covered boards, gilt titles to spine, gilt stamp of King's College London to front board, all edges red-deckled. An ex-library copy, originally from King's College (University of London), subsequently belonging to Royal Holloway College, (also University of London). Condition notes: Boards rubbed and bumped, with the cloth wrinkled on the top board (I suspect a manufacturing fault rather than later damage). Various library stamps to prelims, a few elsewhere including occasional stamps to verso of plates. Library label to spine, taped over the original gilt library shelf mark. Spine strip frayed at top and bottom, and joint worn for top inch or so between spine strip and back board. Pages age-toned, but clean and unmarked, with just a little spotting here and there. All plates in very good condition. Binding sound.

Condition notes: Maps clean and bright, although with tear to first, about 6cm, close to fold of map, from edge of map inwards. Age-toning to pages, except for title page, which has been protected by the map but shows age-darkening to its margins. Externally: boards bumped, soiled and rubbed, small area of damage to cloth of spine strip with area of loss of cloth for about 1 cm by .5 cm at its widest. More photographs if requested.

Re-backed, re-using original dark blue boards (gilt motif) and spine strip. All plates present as called for. These include many from photographs in the main body of the work and photomicrographs in an Appendix. Condition notes: Library markings inside and out, and translucent tape reinforcement to end papers. Boards worn and rubbed. However, apart from the folding map, this is a solid, unmarked, complete copy.
