Bickley's "History of the Settlement and Indian Wars of Tazewell County, Virginia" (110 pages), originally published in 1852. "Family Genealogies" and biographical sketches fill nearly 260 pages. The families featured there include BANDY,…

New York: Frederick A. Praeger, 1968. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good +/very good. 8vo, 6 x 8, 189 pages, including 67 photographs, 22 line drawings, and one map. A volume in Praeger's Ancient Peoples and Places series. This volume is unused and would probably have been rated "as new" but for the following: dust jacket is priced clipped, and both dust jacket and cover, front and rear, have what appears to be "machine" damage (as if mangled by some kind of automated packing equipment, etc.). The damage, however apparent, does not detract significantly from the book's aesthetic appeal.

Description:
Oceanport, NJ: Digital Editions, 2007. This new edition, published on a USB Flash Drive (credit card style), contains two text files in DOC format (2.1 Mb) for MAC or PC and most current word processing programs: 682 pages of text (marriage records), grouped by county and town, and a new, consolidated index of forty pages.A classic compendium, originally published in seven volumes, 1897 to 1906, it contains marriage records of various Congregational (and a few Episcopalian) churches in Connecticut. Bailey clearly recognized the importance of transcribing records that were quickly disappearing and making the transcriptions available to genealogical researchers throughout the world. For this, we owe him our gratitude.
However, as originally published – and lately republished verbatim in PDF format by others – the work is extremely difficult to use. The material for each of the seven volumes seems to have been gathered haphazardly and each volume has its own index, which is only vaguely… Read More

Oceanport, NJ: Digital Editions, 2005. This new edition, published on a USB Flash Drive (credit card style), contains three text files in DOC format (8.5 Mb), for MAC and PC and most current word processing programs. Originally published in five parts from 1928 to 1939, this Digital Edition (1007 pages) has been reformatted and repaginated to improve readability (among other things, eliminating the small print of the original). It is THE standard reference for genealogists who had ancestors in Northern New England (Maine and New Hampshire) in or before 1699. Its scope, however, is much larger than its title would suggest, for it contains much information about people who came from, or removed to, other colonies in New England (Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut), New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and points south. Additionally, it contains information about several dozen, perhaps hundreds of women and children who were captured by raiding Indians and transported to Canada, where many… Read More
