By Dibdin, Thomas Frognall

London: Harding, Triphook and Lepard. VG-. 1824. 1st Edition. Full-Leather. First edition, full polished leather binding with spine stamped in gol d, 912 pages, 8vo size. About VG, there has been a repair with black c loth bindery tape to the outside gutter edge of the front board and th e spine. The front board appears to have been completely detached and the cloth tape has been used to 'mend' the board to the spine. Leather is in decent condition with a little rubbing to the edges. Spine gilt also a bit dull and lightly rubbed. Inside is clean and tight with ve ry little foxing. A decent copy of a scarce book that was once referre d to as the 'Breeches Edition" for a slightly racy anecdote about Mord aunt Cracherode's buck-skins that appears on page 394. Later editions supress this ancedote. The first edition is printed in an edition of a prox. 2000 copies. .
